Operational Support Members
Would you like to become involved with Devon EMS supporting our members providing first aid and emergency care but with a limited "hands on" clinical role

Then becoming a Support Member could be just what you are looking for,
the role is less demanding than that of a front line first aider, however
it can be interesting and as rewarding as you form an essential part of the team.

You will need to be a team player, have good communication and interpersonal skills
and have a resonable level of physical fitness as the role is much less
demanding than that of a front line first aider where average fitness is required.

You will be a normally be a uniformed member of the team and abide by our code of conduct applicable to that of a Support Member.
Your role will be mainly centered around our
Mobile First Aid Unit, and tasks may include driving the
vehicle to and from duties [+], undertaking clerical
duties and operating as a radio operator / controller
within the vehicle, plus  limited clinical activity assisting a
clinical care provider with simple tasks
Additionally if you aspire to a management role we can train you manage a duty, maintaining close communication with the Duty Clinical Supervisor,
and effective liaison with the  event organiser and any attending emergency services.

The role of Support Member is normally voluntary and generally not applicable
to that of an Independent Associate.

TRAINING

We will provide the necessary training which will include Emergency First Aid,
Radio Communications, Leadership and Duty Management Skills for those
aspiring to Duty Management.

Whilst being a driver and car owner is not essential it is an advantage,
[+] Drivers will hold a clean full driving licence [minor endorsments may be accepted]
and should not have been involved in any accidents within the last five years,
experience with driving large vehicles would be an advantage.
An informal assessment of driving skills will normally be required.
All drivers will be over 25yrs and under 70yrs, certain medical conditions may
result in exclusion at the discretion of insurers.
