Details on Flexible Membership Scheme & Devon EMS Reserve Flexible Membership Scheme As a "flexi-member you will undertake a mix of voluntary and paid activity, the latter as an independent provider associated with Devon EMS where you will be classed as an "Independent Associate". In this role you will receive between £5.75 and £9.00 per hour depending upon your grade within Devon EMS, the type of duty, and your particular role. You should be aware that dependent upon your individual circumstances any payment may be classed as taxable earnings which you may be required to declare. Voluntary effort is vital to our team as we provide an event first aid service to both charitable and community events where we offer sizeable discounts from our standard rates and would not be in a position to make payments equal to the national minimum wage, however where volinteers will give of their time free of charge we can pay legitimate expences - which can be quite comprehensive. We will maintain an "Individual Expence Account" for all members when undertaking voluntary activity which will detail your cummulative expences, we will request that you complete a monthly expences form and when you undertake voluntary activity you will in most cases receive a financial credit in respect of your individual expence account, for those on state benefits in particular this may be a better option than that of an Independent Associate. In essence you negotiate the amount of time you wish to give and the balance between that of Volunteer and Independent Associate. Should you only wish to undertake voluntary activity then that is fine. Devon EMS Reserve Devon EMS Reserve is a further extension of our Flexible Membership Scheme whereby we aim to recrit a pool of individuals who may be available to provide operational or other support on an "as necessary" basis, but who for whatever reasonwould not wish to become involved on a regular basis. Other examples may include:- You have an interest in a particular duty or type of duty. You have particular skills which we require from time to time.
