Advice To Event Organisers
The revised Event Safety Guide [HMSO] states that Event Organisers must ensure
that a competent organisation is appointed to manage medical services at an event,
and that this organisation should be experienced in the
medical management of similar events.
It can be very difficult to decide upon a provider who is experienced
and able to provide/arrange the appropriate cover at a resonable price.
At Devon EMS we feel we have that experience, our key co-ordinators have spent
many years managing medical cover for major events in Devon & Cornwall,
within the voluntary sector.
By appointing Devon EMS to organise your event medical needs we will:-
* Risk Assess your event free of charge and offer advice.
* Plan and manage the appropriate medical cover on your behalf.
* Arrange the appropriate resources and provide an estimate of costs.

Medical Cover Will Either Be Provided:-
* Internally utilising our own resources and volunteers when possible.
* Internally with support from carefully selected external providers.
* Contracted out to a carefully selected external provider with your authorisation.
* We will whenever possible provide the appropriate cover internally, using our
volunteers pending their availability, in order to minimise costs, however when this
is not possible we will seek to utilise the support of selected external providers.
Medical cover will be provided by experienced, caring operatives, many of whom
are front line NHS Clinical Staff, operating from well equipped vehicles, currently
we do not have Doctors or Registered Paramedics as an internal resource,
however should your event require this level of input we can normally
make the necessary arrangments.
COMMUNITY COVER
* Available for small events eg village fetes held during the weekend or evening, usually attended by our Responce Vehicle, for which we will be happy to accept an agreed donation
GENERAL COVER
* Available for the medium sized, or sporting event, normally at weekends. Input will include our
Mobile First Aid Unit or Range Rover Support Unit,
Standard equipment includes Medical Gases, Automated Defibrillator and Vital Signs Monitor.
A charge will be made for this service which we will negotitate with you, in order to ensure that you have the most cost effective cover available.
COMMERCIAL COVER
* Normally applies to events taking place during
weekdays and all larger events, internally this
will normally include the input will of our Mobile First Aid Unit and/or our Range Rover Support Vehicle.
Example charges are:-
£160 - £180 per day for vehicle and crew.
Additional external resources will when required be
charged at the providers rate.

and have an on-site static first aid unit at Buckfastleigh Station.
